Well, it has been Sunday for about an hour here. I took a nap earlier and now I am wide awake. I have been reading one of the library books I went and picked up today. Yesterday. Saturday. :)
So, I have four books checked out right now. Two being read.
I picked up Look at Me on my last trip and had to renew it. Not quite through with it. I like it but it is one of those books where you really want to take in what you reading. Not really the content, so much, but the actual writing. I have read one other book by Jennifer Egan, The Invisible Circus. I read it a long time ago. I remembered enjoying it which is why I picked up this one.
I have gotten myself hooked on the new HBO series True Blood. It has gotten better with each new episode. I wasn't sure about it after only seeing the first episode. Anyway, I found the first book in the series that the show is based on, Dead Until Dark. By Chapter Four it was like I had read all three episodes I had already seen. It is amazing how much the show follows this book. There are differences and some changes but for the most part it is dead on. I was thinking of not reading on for fear that I would ruin the show for myself, knowing what was coming next. That only lasted a few seconds. I read on. It is very hard to put this one down. New episode tonight, too. All vampire Sunday for me.
I mean, just look at the other book I picked up. You Suck! :)
I also picked up another book by Scott Westerfeld. I was looking for Specials but it seems to be forever unavailable. It is never there. I should put it on hold.
So, I have got lots of reading to do. I will also be starting a new book for the Classics Challenge that will count towards the RIP III Challenge, too. Can you guess? No, it has nothing to do with vampires. What would give you that idea? :)
* ARC of Any Given Doomsday is up for grabs. Leave me a comment here before Friday for a chance to win my extra copy.
Look At Me seems like a book I want to read!
ReplyDeleteHere is my SS post!
I keep running into Charlaine Harris's books but have yet to read one. They look very appealing. And I run into them, frankly, because their first lines are invariably intriguing. I've used a number of them for TwitterLit.
ReplyDeleteI love True Blood as well, and want to start the books, except I don't want what happens in the series to be ruined! I may actually just wait until the end of each season to read each book...so if it continues at this pace, it'll take me seven years to read the books...
ReplyDeleteI've heard that series is really good. I havent read the Charlaine Harris books yet.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your reading, looks like some great selections.

Peeps is *great* - better than Specials, in my opinion. Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI'm completely hooked on True Blood too. I had read the books before the show started and it hasn't ruined my watching. Both the books and the show are enjoyable and strong.
ReplyDeleteI just started watching True Blood last night! Ugh...I'm hooked. :(
ReplyDeleteTrue Blood is very addictive!
ReplyDeletefirefly- I really enjoyed Peeps. The characters aren't as annoying as the "pretties" were in, well, pretties. Still have to find Specials.
debra- this was the first charlaine harris book I read. I liked it. It was entertaining. I did miss a character from the show, though. She must come out in later books.
Show?! There's a show? I am so out of it.

ReplyDeleteInteresting, you reading Look at Me. I once had to review that book for a magazine and I wanted desperately to love it. I didn't—felt a certain hollowness all the way around. But I continue to greatly admire Egan.
ReplyDeleteBeth- Yes. I keep reading because I am enjoying the writing and some of the characters are interesting, but the story is a bit lacking and it is hard to like the main character. I like Jennifer Egan's style of writing.
