no knitting to see here

I seem to have slowed down in my knitting lately. I haven't pulled out my sweater or socks in a few days now and I am not really sure why. I have been reading more lately but that hasn't interfered with my tv watching which is when I usually knit. I am just not picking it up. It sits next to me in it's Ziploc bag untouched. I guess I am having a bit of knitter's block. :)

School is winding down. Lots of stuff to get finished and cleaned up. Grades need to be in by Wednesday. Flower bed has to look nice by 8:30am Tuesday. I need to go buy flowers! Awards Ceremony on Friday. Program on Thursday! I almost forgot that one. Need to begin cleaning up the classroom. Last day is on June 4th. Then I will need to focus on getting things ready for our trip to Italy. I am feeling unprepared for that. Everything is booked, itinerary settled on...I just need to figure out the packing situation. Backpack or get a new carry-on rollerboard? Osprey has a really nice one with straps if needed. A bit expensive, though.

Anyway, busy busy.

*contest*

Knitasaur is looking for help. She needs your hand measurements to help design some gloves.
Head on over and leave her your numbers, mention I sent you of course. She has some lovely Silky Wool to give away if you do. :)

It is the same yarn I am using on the Tangled Yoke which, by the way, I am now knitting the cables. Yay. I am almost to the end. Kind of.

No pics yet. I will take some when the cables look like something. One little mistake last night, but got it fixed. I have to ball up a skein and I will be ready to get it finished. 15 more rows to go.

i can't be trusted

(archived from mariknits)

I knew I couldn't be trusted at a bookstore to leave empty handed. It is a given: I go in, I leave with a book.

Well, this morning I went to the grocery store to buy some gluten free shark fruit snacks (for sorting and eating at school) and what would be sitting in the book rack by the checkout line? This book that I have been debating whether or not to pick up. Did they know I would have no restraint if it was so conveniently placed and marked down $7 off the cover price?

I can no longer be trusted to go to the grocery store!

BTW, Alana-Knit Wit over at stringsandpearls is having a contest! It is her blogiversary! Go and leave her a comment and tell her I sent ya!

Felted my bag, cast on my second Luna sock and atttached the arms to my Tangled Yoke sweater. I have about three inches of stockinette to go before I get to the cables. Hopefully, it goes just as smoothly when I get there. I am liking the look of it so far.

another felted FO

French Market Bag

Pattern: French Market Bag by Polly Outhwaite
Source: Knitty.com
Yarn: Berroco Ultra Alpaca
Needles: US 8

Finally felted, but I think it needs another spin in the wash before it is really finished. What do you all think? The green yarn didn't felt as well as the brown. Weird considering it is the same yarn. Another thing, it came out very fuzzy. Hairs everywhere. It was a good thing it was in a zippered pillow case or else my washer would have been a mess! Any ideas on how to de-fuzz?

i have a question...about a book

(archived from mariknits)

I went to a local bookstore today after grabbing lunch with the hubby. There was a display of books on sale and in the piles of books I found this one, Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett. Hardcover for $7.99. That is hard to pass up, no? I haven't read any of his books but have always heard good things. This just happens to be one of his young adult books and also the third book with this main character. I just realized this while adding it to my list of books-to-read on GoodReads. So, my question, for the Terry Pratchett readers out there who have read these books, should read the other two before reading this one? Can it be read as a stand alone book? Thanks!

So far the weekend is shaping up to be better than last week's. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a nice relaxing weekend of coffee shops, books, and knitting. :)

suffer well

It has been one week/weekend from hell. I won't be going into details but it's been a little rough.
What made my day yesterday? Opening my mailbox and finding this lovely skein of yarn, though, brought a much needed smile to my face.

Cordial

I love it. Thanks, Amanda!

It is a bamboo/merino mix in Cordial from NH Knitting Mama Yarns. Absolutely lovely and so soft!

Another thing that made me smile...a friend let me borrow her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books. I have only seen the movie and have wanted to read these for awhile. Yay.

sanity savers

I am also almost done with the first of my Luna socks.
