Bad Knitter

I am a bad, bad knitter. I have not picked up my sticks in what feels like forever. It's not like I have nothing to knit. I have tons of projects I want to do, unfinished stuff that needs finishing and gifts to knit before I go to CA in 2 weeks. 

What is wrong with my motivation?

I found a baby cardigan in one of my books to make for my sister's baby that is due in August. Must get started on that. It looks nothing like the photo of one she saw in a store, though. One she wants me to make despite having told her it is crochet not knit.

Hey, Teach!

It is Hey, Teach! I now know why everyone is knitting it. It is such a quick knit. I just started on Thursday and I already have the back and left front knit. I am using some Cotton Fleece I bought from another blogger's de-stash. Now to work on the right front while watching some Oprah.

Please don't, I love this sweater. :)

Everything about it. The yarn, the cable across the yoke, the fit, the buttons. I love it. If only it wasn't so darn hot. I would love to wear this right now and show it off. Looking at the weather in Italy and London, I think I may be able to get a little use out if it in the evenings there...maybe. I am still debating whether or not to take it. If nothing else, it will keep me warm on the plane.



I went to JoAnn's the other day and chose these buttons. They are 1/2 inch shell buttons. Cute, right? I think they work perfectly with the color of the sweater. It was between these and some plastic ones that had the same color of the sweater swirled all over them. I think I made the right choice. These seemed a little nicer than the others.

I pretty much stuck to the pattern as written. Very easy to follow. I made the second size up with the exception of the sleeves. They were coming out really big for me so I went down a size for them. I am not a fan of baggy sleeves. I also added about an inch of length to the body. That is it.





I am very happy with it. I like this one much better than my first sweater. Fits better. I think that is what makes me like it so much more. I may actually get more use out of this one. Not "may", I will get more use out of it.

It is the same yarn I am using on the Tangled Yoke which, by the way, I am now knitting the cables. Yay. I am almost to the end. Kind of.

No pics yet. I will take some when the cables look like something. One little mistake last night, but got it fixed. I have to ball up a skein and I will be ready to get it finished. 15 more rows to go.

I have been making some progress on my wips. Yay!

Felted my bag, cast on my second Luna sock and atttached the arms to my Tangled Yoke sweater. I have about three inches of stockinette to go before I get to the cables. Hopefully, it goes just as smoothly when I get there. I am liking the look of it so far.

oh what a tangled web we weave

I have yet to reach the tangled part but I am still enjoying knitting my Tangled Yoke. After working on a lace stole for so long I have no problem with endless stockinette for right now. I have the body knit up and am working on the first sleeve. Almost to the elbow. I am thinking I may rip out the body to the waist and add an extra inch or two to add length. I am thinking it is going to be a little too short. I would hate to have it ride up over my belly. The belly needs to be hidden.

The high today is supposed to be 86 degrees! Can you believe that?

Best thing to do when the weather is this warm...take the knitting outdoors.



I have been enjoying sitting outside on the deck, listening to some music,Joshua Radin and The Weepies, and knitting some on my Tangled Yoke.

Yes, I know it is Monday, and normally I would be at work right now waking kids from their naps, but no school today. Yay! Makes up for having to work on President's Day. :)

It has been finished for awhile now, and has been worn pretty regularly (as you can tell from the pilling under my arm). But now it has buttons! The one thing it was lacking for so long.


I love it! It is soft and warm. Perfect. Not bad for my first seamed sweater, imo. :)

I want, I want, I want

There is always something I am in desperate need of. Absolutely, no fail.

Unfortunately, I don't always have the means to get what I want. By that I mean... no cash.
I am a teacher, remember. Not much moola flowing flowing my way.
This is what is on my radar right now. I want to make this sweater and with this yarn. The number of skeins needed of this $9.10/skein yarn will cost me close to $80. $80 I don't have right now. Urg.

There is absolutely no way I could get the yarn for this right now. I will have to wait until I get paid and hope that there are still enough skeins out there of the oatmeal (Edit: oatmeal. wheat. whatever) for me to make this beautiful sweater when I do finally have the funds to purchase.

Jojo shares in my despair.

family visit

The family is on their way. The first of the four arrives tonight by airplane. Parents tomorrow by car and the final one by plane tomorrow afternoon. Suffice it to say, not much knitting has been happening due to the cleaning that was much needed. It is all done now, ready for them to get here.

I was going to get back to work on my second sock, but realized that I have a short sleeve cardigan, knit from the top down, that needs its loose ends all tucked away so I can finally give it to my sister. It is another one of those ufo's that only needs finishing but I can't ever seem to get to it.

This is a really bad picture of it. It's black, so it it's hard to see the details or stitches. Anyway, I think I tucked up the loose ends so they wouldn't show, but they are there. Gosh, that really is a terrible picture.

all buttoned up

I went to JoAnns afterall and found myself some large wooden buttons and then figured out how to sew them on. So, yay!, the cardigan is finally finished. One problem. The button hole band gets all wavy when it is buttoned up. I am thinking it is because of me. I may have made it a bit snug aaround the chest. Oops. Oh well, one button buttoned at the top will probably be okay.
No pic yet, but will post as soon as I get one taken.

getting back into the knit of things

I am trying anyway. Back and neck are doing okay. Had a bit of a stomach problem for the last couple weeks but that is getting better as well. My hands have been itching for something to do. What I really want to finish is my Sesame Cardigan from Magknits.com that has been sitting in my closet for quite awhile with no buttons. That is all that it is missing! Where to get buttons?

I checked out my lys a while back but they didn't have buttons the right size. A new JoAnns opened, much bigger than the old one so I think I will go and check out what they have today.

I really want to have this sweater finished so it can come with me to CA next week. We will be on the coast for a few days and it would be perfect to stay warm in.
