Peeps / Parasite Positive by Scott Westerfeld
If I had read this as a teen I think I would be a biologist today. Seriously. The science in here, and how it is perfectly presented along with the story, is making me regret not doing better in my college science courses. I love this stuff. Who knew parasites could be so interesting and terrifying at the same time?
This is such a great take on vampires. The real science and info on parasites, though, much scarier than the vampires. :)

ReplyDeleteAs a biologist, I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. :) He does do such a good job of working the parasitology into a believeable, plausible story, doesn't he? Glad you enjoyed it!
sounds very good :)

Would you PLEASE stop writing about books that I might like? I can't afford to keep up with you! :P I'll have to take a look at this one too. *dramatic sigh*
ReplyDeleteI have not yet read one of Scott Westerfeld's, but I really need to.
ReplyDeleteI loved how Westerfeld incorporated the science! It was fun, creepy and informative, and it added a lot to the story. I've heard that some people actually skip the parasite chapters, though; they find them to disgusting.
ReplyDeleteOooh - got this one waiting for me on the shelf! Looking forward - I do so love books I can learn something from while I'm immersed in a great story.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. It made me wish I'd studied biology too.
