Classics Challenge 2009

Yup. Another challenge.

I just can't seem to help myself. :) I love Classics and there are still a lot for me to read so what better way to get them read than to participate in the Classics Challenge for 2009.

I participated in last year's challenge and finished so I have my hopes up that I can complete this one as well. However, this year I am only going to try for four books plus the bonus "Should Be A Classic" book.

I blame The Black Sheep for this one. I saw she would be participating again so of course I have to as well. :)

So, here is what I have in mind for this one:

The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
Persuasion by Jane Austen
Dracula by Bram Stoker

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

It's possible this list may change.

This gets started on April 1st! Will you be participating?

Read as of (8/09)

Persuasion by Jane Austen
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

  1. Persuasion is my absolute favourite Jane Austen novel - I hope you enjoy it! I would really like to join in this challenge but I didn't manage to finish it last year so am thinking I should pace myself with challenges this year.

  2. That was my plan, too, Karen! I just can't keep myself from joining them. :)

  3. I'm glad to see Canterbury Tales, I wish I'd thought of that, maybe next time.

  4. *grin*

I sort of no longer feel like I can count Austen's works as books for the challenge. I've already read them so often. I do lover Persuasion though. I think it's tecnically her best book, although there's just something about P&P that makes it my fav.

I wanted to read Canterbury Tales, but could only find the abrigded version. :( I do need to go put up my list though.

    Good luck!

  5. I am reading Persuasion slowly with DailyLit right now but plan on rereading before going to Bath in July with my unabridged version.

  6. Glad you joined in Mari. I'm thinking of adding Persuasion to my list but I'll have to see.

  7. I'm totally the same way, I can't resist challenges! I joined this one as well.

  8. Can't wait to see what books you both choose! :)

  9. I don't want to read Dracula. I am afraid I would wimp out in the middle and then still have bad dreams! lol But I love Persuasion, it is a great book. No bad dreams with Jane Austen ;) haha

  10. Glad you couldn't resist, Mari! :) The only one on your list I've read is Romeo and Juliet but I really want to read Dracula soon! Enjoy the challenge.

  11. I have read Dracula before. Probably about 8 years ago. I loved it but it is a bit creepy. :)

Thanks for taking the time to comment! :)
