I was going to wait until I got home and took a picture of it all set up but I just can't wait. I got the best Christmas present from the hubby. A ball winder and swift! Yay. Finally, I won't have to maneuver skeins of yarn around my knees. No more cramping hands from balling up yarn by hand. No more knots caused by the yarn slipping off of my knees and getting all tangled up. I can't wait to try it out.
Happy New Year!!!
When I got my swift and ball winder I felt like I graduated from college knitting and was beginning work on my "masters". High school to college was when I bought my first skein of wool instead of LionBrand Homespun. We won't talk about the fact that I didn't know then that you couldn't knit from a skein-
ReplyDeleteYay so exciting! I love my set.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I have several yarns that need to be swifted, lol, but I don't have one so they sit in a bag unused. {{{sigh}}}
ReplyDeleteHooray! I got an umbrella swift this year, as well (I had a winder, but my ottoman's legs doubled as my swift :/). Makes winding sooooooo much easier.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely one of the BEST gifts to get a knitter!
ReplyDeleteOK, that settles it. I just have not trained my husband well enough. He does very well in many areas, but I have yet to receive a yarn related gift from him..He's still proud that he even knows any knitting terminology.
ReplyDeleteI got a swift, but no ball winder. Finally! I asked for one last year and I got a vacuum cleaner instead. And I can make it work without a ball winder. (And cheap ball winders are easy to snag.)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I have to work on getting a swift... have a winder. I imagine it's *that* much easier with a swift.
ReplyDeleteDude! Nice hubby! I've found out the hard way that a ball winder minus the skein is helpful, but only if you're very, very careful.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a thoughtful hubby. I'll have to add those to my wish list for next year.
ReplyDeleteI have a great hubby! Now I just need to put this to use.
