When I was ten, my grandparents, mother and I came out west to visit relatives in Grass Valley. We continued on to San Francisco and crossed the Golden Gate Bridge before going on north into Oregon. As we crossed the bridge and I was gawking, my grandfather told us how he came back from fighting in the South Pacific during World War II and his ship sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge. "This is the most beautiful sight in the world," Grampa said.
