pimping a contest

Tamiknits is having a contest to celebrate her 100th post. Go leave her a comment and remember to tell her I sent you. :)

No knitting to share with you all today. This is my second day home sick from work. All I am capable of doing is lying in bed and occasionally checking my email/google reader when I get up to eat something.

Hope you are all having a better Wednesday.

no longer in hibernation

While doing some laundry last night, I threw this in a zippered pillowcase and put it in the washer. Two washes later I had this. Definitely felted, but with some wrinkles I couldn't get out. Ideas?

( I stayed home sick from work today. In bouts of awakeness I may have the strength to get up and work on it a bit.)

video killed the radio star

So, does that mean the iPod killed the radio?

I don't think I mentioned that on my trip to Sundance, along with the no bags ordeal, I managed to leave my iPod on the plane.

Yeah. Oops.

Now, this was an old iPod. One of the white bulky ones. It was also an eBay purchase that kept freezing on me and sometimes needed to be banged on the hand to get to work. Even though I was a bit upset about losing it, it wasn't a total tragedy because look what I went and bought myself yesterday.

Isn't it pretty?

Screen lights up (my light had gone out on mine) and has color. I can watch video and upload pictures.

This is just cool.

It is so fancy.

I love it!

sotsii hint#1 complete

Yay! I finished it on time.

I am very happy to say that I had no problems with this first hint to the stole. In fact, I had no problem knitting this in front of the tv both nights I worked on it. I better knock on wood after saying that. I will probably have bad luck on the second hint, which we get tomorrow.

So far, I love the pattern. It is very pretty. The yarn turned out to be perfect, and I am glad I decided to go with US 3's and not US 4's. It has the perfect amount of openness of the lace.

Here is a close up of the center detail at the top:

And, because I said I would, here is a pic of the yarn that came in the mail yesterday:

I can't wait to use that sock yarn!

Just wanted to show off the little bit of knitting I got done in Park City. All were amazed at how quickly I cranked this out. I was wearing it around town by Saturday. It's very warm despite the lace and just a little big. I used needles a size up of what was called for in the patten. I didn't have time to go buy the right size before heading to the airport on Wednesday.

So, I got most of my stuff done last night that I wanted to. Tonight is laundry and finish hint #1 for sotsii. I worked on it last night up to row 31. Coming along pretty nicely. I really like the way it is looking so far.

hint#1

I should be able to get this done tonight.

Yay! My mail just got delivered (it was on hold) and my package of yarn from Bunky Bobos is here. It is two more skeins of KP Shadow for the stole and a skein of Sandy's own hand dyed sock yarn in the color: Basalisk! :) I will share pics tomorrow. No more light in here on this gloomy afternoon.

we have ourselves a winner

It is so nice to be home. After work, I went to Whole foods for groceries and came straight home to shower and put on pj's. Yes, it was only 4pm but it's cold and rainy. Would you do anything else? My only goals for tonight were are to make something for dinner, knit on my stole for sotsii and name a winner for my little contest.

I have done only one thing so far...

I gave everyone a number (some of you had more than one) then used the Random Number Generator which gave me the number 81.
The lucky lady with the number 81 is.... *dramatic drum roll*.... Caroline!!!

Congratulations!!

This was fun! Thank you all for playing and helping me celebrate. I should be back with another in March to celebrate the beginning of this blog. Hope you are all still around. :)

out of the snow and into the rain

Wow! I can't believe how many people have come and posted for my little contest. Seriously, I am used to about 10 people reading this. Thanks to all of you who posted on your blogs! This is amazing.

I just got back tonight from Sundance and there are a lot of names to go through and blogs to check, and counting to do. I should have a name for you some time tomorrow or Wednesday. I will try my hardest for tomorrow, but no promises. My bag didn't make it here with me and of course my power cord for the MacBook is in there. They promised to deliver tonight. We shall see about that. Believe it or not, this also happened when we landed in Salt Lake City. My bag didn't show up until 2pm the next day. Yup, bad baggage luck this trip.

Sundance was fun! I saw a few celebrities roaming around and got to see The Guitar by Amy Redford. (her dad was in the audience. very cool) and a Shorts program that included some really great movies, and theses really great 2 min clips made by Isabella Rosselini. She was there for the Q&A. I will try to link some of these later for those of you interested.

A snowstorm came in last night which pushed back all the flights this morning. I left SLC 3 hrs late! i missed my connection in DFW but thankfully the hubby called and got me on the next flight out, but it was still a very short time between the flights. I walked out of the airport here minus a bag into misty rain. Urg. At least I am home now with a little time to relax before getting ready for bed and work tomorrow.

Anyway, I am on Central time, but I will give until Pacific time. There is plenty of time left to enter if you haven't yet.

Also, Cass is having her #444 post contest. So head on over to Shut Up I'm Counting and tell her I sent you. :)

pimping some contests

Head on over to Insanknitty's blog and wish her a belated Happy Birthday. You can also enter her contest. Are you good with numbers?

Jessi is celebrating her blogiversary with a little somethin' somethin'.

Good luck.

Oh, and if you are looking for mine. Go here or you could just scroll down. It is only a few posts down. :) You have until Monday, January 21st!

keeping warm

I am sitting on the couch in my pajamas and wearing my calorimetry and fetchings while knitting away on my clapotis.

I am quite the pretty picture. Hehe.

I'm warm anyway.

The warm tea helps, too.

Like I would actually take a picture of myself looking like this. Ha.

Instead, here is a pic of the wip:

clapotis scarf

It is coming along nicely. I am getting close to the end. Hopefully, I will be done before we leave for Sundance on Wednesday. I would love to take it with me. It looks great with my new coat.

It'll still need blocking, though.

sotsii

sotsii swatch
Originally uploaded by my_weezy
This is what I have been working on during my tv watching the last couple of nights. It is the swatch for the Secret of the Stole II KAL that I signed up for.

I am using Knit Picks Shadow, Sunset Heather. It was yarn that I had conveniently in my stash already. Of course, I only have two. I went on a search in Ravelry and found someone trade/sell-ing 2 hanks of the same yarn in the correct dyelot! Yay! I am very grateful. I should be purchasing today from Sandyknits. Thank you, thank you. ( She has some great looking hand dyed yarns in her Etsy shop)

So, there was some discussion about what size needles to use with this yarn. For this swatch I used US 3's and I am happy with the openness of the pattern. I haven't blocked yet either. I think most people have chosen to go with one size bigger. Another swatch may be in order.

The first clue comes out on Friday. I will be out of town until Monday. I am going to get behind on this. Hopefully, I will be bale to catch up enough to be eady for the next clue the following Friday.

Anyway, I am really anxious to get started. Should be lots of fun.

( We are ignoring the fact that I have other wip's that need to be completed, including a blanket that was gifted at Christmas undone.)

100th Post

I made it to my 100th post. It is still hard to believe that anyone would want to read anything I write, but I am glad that you do. To say thanks I have a lovely hank of one of my favorite yarns to give away. Some Berroco Ultra Alpaca, seen here all balled up:

Berroco Ultra Alpaca

This is what I used for my Shedir back in August, but for you I have a brand new hank. If you would like a go at it just leave me a comment. That's it.

Of course, if you pimp on your site or I get told by another commenter that they came over from your site, you will get even more entries into the hat.

Good luck to you. I will take entries until Midnight on the 21st of January.

Speaking of deadlines, if you are interested in joining the Secret of the Stole II KAL, you have until the 17th of January. Click the button on the left (and probably a ways down) for more details.

Charade-in progress

Remember these?

Pattern: Charade by Sandra Park
Yarn: SWTC Tofutsies
Needles: US 1, Magic Loop

Well, they are done. I finally finished my Charades! Yay! Aren't they pretty?

model charade

These were so long in the making. I kept pushing them aside while knitting all the Christmas gifts I needed to get done and only working on them a few rounds at a time. I absolutely love them. Love the pattern. Love the yarn. These I will keep for myself. Fortunately, they are just the right size for my size 6.5 feet. :)

So, I used the Magic Loop method for the first time on these. At first it was a bit awkward but I got the hang of it and really like it. So easy to tote around. No needles to lose. I don't think I will be throwing out the dpn's just yet, though. However, my Thuja's are on my one long set of US 1 Addi's since I started while out of town for the holidays.

(BTW, next post will be my 100th!!)

heaven

It's being worked on US 6 needles so it is very light and airy and yet still very warm. Amazing. If only it wasn't 81 degrees here! I am not going to get much use our of it here.

It was back to work for me today. It is so hard to go back. Every year, I dread going back after the winter holiday. It is like the first day all over again. Kids comeback tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed that they remember all the rules and everything they learned. :)

went all the way to canada...

I couldn't resist. It was 1/2 off the regular price, which I will not share for fear that it may give some of you a heart attack. Just so you know, it is the only thing I brought home with me from Banff.

The holidays were great. I received many lovely gifts and everyone loved their knitted gifts. I have had requests for more. I better get started now.

It was great to see the family, but really, too short. Going to Canada after Christmas cut our visit short. Not that Banff wasn't fun. I did some reading, some knitting, and a little spaing ( I don't think that is a word). The hubby did some skiing. It was great.

On the vacation front, Sundance is next. I wonder what lovely yarn I can find there!
