Halloween Kid Craft

The little girl and I had some fun today. We reused our toilet paper rolls to make some really cute Halloween decorations. We have a lot of construction paper in the house, so we had everything we needed.  There was no paint or glitter involved, so it was a non-messy craft for indoors, and there is no wait time for playing.

They were a big hit and have now found a home in her room. They had a Halloween dance party.

Would you like to make these?

Here is what you will need:

Toilet paper rolls
Construction paper (black, green, white and orange)
Tape or glue
Markers and/or crayons
Scissors

For all, cut out paper same length as tube, wrap it around and tape or glue to secure.

Jack-o-lantern

Orange paper
Green, half length of tube.
Cut a fringe, roll up and tuck inside top of tube.
Black marker or crayon for face.

Bat

Black paper
For wings, cut out a semi circle from left over paper, same diameter as tube.
Scallop the bottom edge and cut out a small semicircle off the top. Tape to back of tube.
Use pieces cut off from scalloped bottom as ears.
Yellow or white crayon for face

Frankenstein's monster

Green paper
Black paper 1/4 length of tube. Attach at top for hair.
Draw on face, scars and bolts.

Ghost

White paper
Black marker for face

Have fun!
Here is the ghost the little girl made.

She cut out the paper with a little help from me. Taped it into the tube herself and drew the face. She embellished with the stickers.

Happy Crafting!

Wednesday Knitting

Halloween is approaching so costume making has commenced.

The little girl and I have decided on a Bee as the costume for this year. Like last year, I have decided to knit the main part of the costume. Once again, it is a functional piece of clothing with some black and yellow stripes to make it look bee-like. I have made her a tunic sweater with Fibonacci striping that will be paired with some yellow leggings, antennae headband and wings that I will either make or purchase. Haven't figured that out yet.
Anyway, here is what I got so far. Needs some sleeves, and the last bit of the skirt but I am rather proud of this little sweater. First time coming up with my own idea, pattern. I kinda like it.

It's a little hard to see the detail due to the bad lighting. Sorry. Didn't have time during the day to photograph.

Anyway, It was a nice way to spend Halloween. Off the streets, away from Downtown crazy-ness.

I also finished my pair of TTL Mystery Socks!

Mystery socks finished

Yay. I love them. I had been thinking that I would give them away since I went with the bigger size, but they fit me just fine and probably won't fit my friend's feet. I think I will be giving her another pair I made that are too big for me:

Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween.

Whiskers on Wednesday Halloween Edition

I fear I have not taken a new Joey picture this Halloween so I am recycling last years. She looks so cute doing what she loves best, sitting on the windowsill, staring out at the birds in the trees. The pumpkin is in her way. She usually pushes it out of her way but this day, she sat with her paws curled under her and trying desperately to ignore the orange thing. After taking the picture, after walking away and making myself busy elsewhere, I heard the pumpkin fall to the ground and roll. Joey was back in her spot looking very innocent.

I could only get one in the pic since my other hand was busy with the camera, but they are finished and I love them. So cute.

I used some of the red Berroco Ultra Alpaca I used for the hubby's stocking. They didn't use up much of it, so I have plenty to make my own stocking.

I started these yesterday afternoon hoping to get them fiished before heading out to a Halloween Party. They would have gone great with my black and red knee high socks. :) Unfortunately, I was only able to get one done. Finished the other earlier today.

How cute it this! I need to make these at some point to add to my Haloween decor. Last night I put up everything I own. My house is completely ready for Halloween! Lights, spiders, spooky tree... you name it, I have it up. :)

I really want these little ghosts. They are soo cute.

Magknits rocks! Hehe
