Tuesday saw two Giveaway wins in the mail from Hatchett.
Julie & Julia by Julie Powell (Thanks, Bonnie!)
Daniel X: Watch the Skies by James Patterson (Thanks, April!)
Also in the mail was a book from my father in law. He is reading it with his book group and thought so highly of it he sent it to the hubby and I.
Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Not my usual type of book but it sounds interesting.
In this profoundly affecting memoir from the internationally renowned author of The Caged Virgin, Ayaan Hirsi Ali tells her astonishing life story, from her traditional Muslim childhood in Somalia, Saudi Arabia, and Kenya, to her intellectual awakening and activism in the Netherlands, and her current life under armed guard in the West.
Have any of you read this? Heard of it?
My coworker read this and she loved it. It's in my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteI have Julie and Julia in my collection to read too.
ReplyDeleteInfidel has been on my wishlist for a long time. I finally found it in the bookstore last weekend but it was very expensive :(
ReplyDeleteI'm going to wait for the UK version to be available for a reasonable price, but I'm getting it for sure. Hope you enjoy all the books :)
Mari...I heard The Infidel was wonderful; enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI keep looking at Infidel at the bookstore for some reason, but I haven't read it. I look forward to your thoughts on it!
ReplyDeleteOh good! I hope to read it soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy the book, so many good reviews for it!
ReplyDeleteOh Mari!! I'd love to read Julie and Julia - I've heard such great things about both the book and the movie (even my DAD liked the movie!). Hope you simply love it!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Mailbox! ~ Wendi
I hadn't heard of the book, but of the woman. Just knowing the little I do about her makes me think it would be worth a gander at the least.
ReplyDeleteGreat books! Never heard of Infidel. Will have to come back for your review :0)
