on my nightstand

Found this today. Kind of a cool idea. Post the books you have on your nightstand each month. This will be a little hard to do today since I am not at home but I think I can remember most of what's there.

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Housseini
Toxin by Robin Cook
The Eyes of Darkness by Dean Koontz
Harsh Cry of the Heron by Lian Heron
Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett
The Book of the Dead by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
The Wonder Spot by Melissa Bank
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin

  1. I read The Book of the Dead a while back. I enjoyed it, but I didn't realize when I picked it up that it was the 7th book in the series. I was able to follow it without a problem, but there were some characters and events that were alluded to (from previous books) that I remember being a bit confused about.

I used to LOVE Dean Koontz! It's been AGES since I've read anything by him...

  2. It was still easy to follow B of the D, even though I hadn't read the rest of the series, it just would have been nice to know beforehand :)

  3. I haven't read any of those, so thanks for the new ideas. My husband is voraciously reading Dean Koontz, he is a great writer, but his books freak me out before bed!

  4. I forgot all about Splendid Suns. I did enjoy the Kite Runner and meant to try this out, but it sort of dropped off my radar.

    I'm glad you joined in!
