look what I came home and found today

the evidence

Yup, a certain little kitty got a hold of my yarn and made a bit of a mess. I suppose it was bound to happen eventually. I should have known that one night I would forget to put away some yarn. She managed to get away with little scolding this time. She was very lucky that this was just a small ball of left over yarn that I used a bit of last night to hold stitches.

Yup...lucky.

one little, two little,...

first gloves

Woohoo!! And I thought gloves were going to be hard. I am actually enjoying knitting all these fingers.

There were a couple set backs last night with some frogging. My own fault, thinking that I could adjust the pattern to make right and left gloves without the thumb sticking out the side. Changed my mind, and decided to follow the pattern as is. Much less trouble.

feeling a little crazy

I have cast on another project tonight. Gloves. To be a Christmas present for a SIL. She requested gloves a year ago before I would even consider knitting some. Today, I got the idea that I was ready. So gloves have been started. Only a cuff so far is knit. Beginning the thumb gussett. Unfortunately, it is time for a shower and bed. Time to put the soon-to-be glove away.

4 wips. I am getting CRAZY!!! :}

progress update

Clapotis scarf

I finished the third book, Anne of the Island, last night at 1am. I couldn't put it down until Anne realized that she loved Gilbert. *sigh*

There were a couple things that kept bothering me throughout the book while reading that I thought I would mention. One was Davy constantly asking questions and saying "I need to know." Reminded me a bit of Tom Riddle when he was asking Dumbledore questions in Harry Potter. ( I am a bit of a Potterhead.)

Also, the way Paul always calls his mom, his "little mother". This was more so in Anne of Avonlea, but had to mention. It annoyed me a bit. I don't know why.

Anyway, on to the next book. Anne of Windy Poplars, I believe is next.

The Clapotis is coming along nicely. I frogged the first attempt and started over to make it a little less wide. It is now the perfect scarf width. It is a bit like camoflauge, but I like it.

Finished Wrap

Pattern: Ruffled Surplice
Source: Mari Lynn Patrick, Interweave Knits Spring 2007
Yarn: Tahki Bali
Needles: US 10

Well, here it is. All finished. The ruffles, the ties, everything. As you can probably tell, the ties need to be made longer. They barely make it around my waist. I will take care of that one of these days. No worries. Really.

Overall, I like it. It is very pretty and had it not taken me so long to finish it, I think I would be more excited about it. Really, I am just glad to have it done with. One thing about it...it is very heavy. Don't know if it is the yarn or just the bulk of it due to the ruffles. There are lots of ruffles!

Don't know what I was thinking, making something so frilly for myself. Perhaps, by Easter I will have lost a few inches around the waist and I will be able to wear it then. It is a little too spring-y to be worn now. And frilly, I may be able to pull off at Easter.

happy hump day

I left work early, sick, and slept the day away. Joey did the same. Slept, that is. She heard me coming with the camera, which is why she is giving me that "don't bother me" stare.

Few minutes later, she was lying next to me in bed, kneading herself a comfy place to nap.

Hope you all got more out of your day than just sleep.

Cheers!

death by ruffles

ruffled edge

It is done. I managed to use a spare set of circs to hold stitches and got the last two rows knit and bound off. Finally. This sweater has been a pain in the neck, literally, and it sucks that it is not very flattering on. It fits, it is not too big or too small, but I just don't think it is meant to be worn by someone with no waist.

I have to add a few inches to either tie I realized when I tried it on, so it really isn't completely finished. They turned out to be too short. Urg. I need to lose some weight. Walking and going to yoga has not been on the agenda lately. I really need to get back to that.

I guess this sweater will have to be gifted. It has to look good on someone.

It has been finished for awhile now, and has been worn pretty regularly (as you can tell from the pilling under my arm). But now it has buttons! The one thing it was lacking for so long.

I love it! It is soft and warm. Perfect. Not bad for my first seamed sweater, imo. :)

what do I do now?

WTF

Well, I am on the very last part of this project that I have been working on since March. I am on the ruffled bottom edge, finally. I may actually get this done while it is still warm enough to wear it. Yeah, well, that isn't going to happen just yet.

I was being stubborn. I used my straights for the entire thing, and even though I knew there would be a lot of stitches to do the hem, I refused to go and buy circulars. Why should I, I said to myself, the pattern doesn't specifically say I need them, and I have these perfect US 10 needles ready to go. Urg.

Now I am on the last row of increases, right in the middle actually, and I have run out of room on the needles. What do I do now? I really have no way of pushing all those stitches on the second needle plus the increases onto the right one. What a mess!

So close to being all done, too.
