the perks of being a wallflower- Book Review

The Perks of Being a Wallflower The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

"Dear Friend,
I am writing to you because she said you listen and understand and didn't try to sleep with that person at that party even though you could have."

A wonderful book of letters written by a teen in his first year of high school in 1991 (the same year I was a freshman) chronicling his attempts to "participate". This book was on the most challenged/banned list for 2007 because it deals with Homosexuality, is Sexually Explicit, uses Offensive Language, and is Unsuited to Age Group. I found it to be a beautiful story of survival, friendship and love. It was just as good during my second read through as it was when I read it back in 2000.

"So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I am still trying to figure out how that could be."
