There be a really cool contest over at tangledupinknots. You should all go and check it out, enter, and mention me of course. :)
And another at The Knitting Coop.
I haven't had the best of luck with contests lately so any extra help would be great.
Have a good day.

Fetching
They are a bit, aren't they?
I could only get one in the pic since my other hand was busy with the camera, but they are finished and I love them. So cute.
I used some of the red Berroco Ultra Alpaca I used for the hubby's stocking. They didn't use up much of it, so I have plenty to make my own stocking.
I started these yesterday afternoon hoping to get them fiished before heading out to a Halloween Party. They would have gone great with my black and red knee high socks. :) Unfortunately, I was only able to get one done. Finished the other earlier today.

"Big Daddy needs new yarn."
Another great knitting reference on Pushing Daisies tonight. I love this show!
I myself, am not in need of more yarn considering I have an order coming from Knit Picks soon. Oh, so much sale yarn was purchased. Some yarn for this lovely sweater and some more sock yarn. Even a couple skeins of lace weight for who knows what.
I need to go to bed. It is after midnight. This is what happens when you take a nap in the afternoon. :)

clapotis redo
Well, I did the numbers for the clapotis and realized that I was right to worry. Not enough yarn to continue. So, last night, while watching the Red Sox dominate in game 6, I ripped it all out and started it all over making it less wide. It is now normal scarf size rather than being too wide. Now I can make it nice and long like I like without running out of yarn. I am already at the length I was on the wider version and have only started on my second ball of yarn. I am feeling much better about this thing now.
I think I will work on it some more tonight during Game 7.

chocolate to the rescue
I may not be able to knit on the Log Cabin, but I am making some progress on the clapotis. I actually got to drop a stitch or two last night. It is a bit nerve racking. I kept checking to make sure I wasn't dropping the wrong one and crossing my fingers that I was doing it right. I am actully a bit worried that I am going to run out of yarn before this scarf/wrap is a useable length. I had 8 skeins to start and I am on the third now. My gauge is off a bit. The width is a little more than the 21' stated in the pattern. The length is supposed to be 55'. Urg. I am only about an inch along in the length and only 5 skeins left to make it. My fingers are crossed and I need a bite of my chocolate cupcake I bought earlier today.
Yarnival
I made it into Yarnival! I had no clue.
Coolio! Thanks BlackSheep for letting me know. And you're in it, too! What a co-inky-dink. :)

avoidance problems
Well, instead of doing the cleaning that I should have been doing, I pulled out my periwinkle wrap that has been in need of seaming for a very long time. Nothing like a little cleaning avoidance, to get some finishing done, huh? Hehe.
It is all seamed up, finally, but it is still far from finished. I am working on the first tie (as you can see in the picture), need another tie and need to knit the ruffled bottom edge. Not bad, though.
Unfortunately, there is still a lot of cleaning to get done.

t-minus 48 hours
I just realized that my inlaws will be here this Monday. I thought I had a whole other week before they showed up for their visit. I have so much cleaning to do. You don't understand the mess that this house is in. I have been spending too much time knitting in front of the tv this week.
So much to do:
1. Wash all the linens in the guest bedroom. Joey was using the bed as her own personal napping place.
2. Clean the bathrooms.
3. Vacuum, dust and de-fur all rooms. Joey has had it easy lately.
4. Pick up all kitchen stuff from the living room. Some of the stuff can actually go back into the kitchen even though it is not completely finished.
Must get to work.

pushing daisies
Who knew it would make a perfect knitting show.
Here is a lovely qoute from the show tonight, perfectly narrated by Jim Dale.
"Since the arrival of the dead girl, who was not dead, he had found a stockinette stitch to be especially relaxing.
But no stitch was substitute for a good murder case."
Hehe.
They also showed this man wering his knit vest and two gun cozies...to show how stressed out he has been.
Too funny. Too perfect as I sat here knitting my charades.
The show is great in a weird way.

log cabin saved
Well, it's looking good despite the little snags made by a certain evil kitty. I was able to pull most of them back in. My MIL actually chose the colors of this without knowing what she was choosing colors for. Hehe. Not bad, huh? It will go well in their house.
I need to get some US 6 circulars soon, this thing will not be fitting on my straights for much longer. They didn't have anything long enough when I bought the yarn. A trip to HCW will be necessary.
Okay, I hope you aren't squeamish about spiders, but take a look at what I found when I went outside to photograph the blanket. Look at this thing! It is huge and it has made itself a very large web on our deck. Click on the picture and see it large. You can make out some detail on the spider. Pretty cool, huh.

the look of guilt
Twice today, while knitting the Log Cabin blanket, have I left to find the Jojo happily curled up on it. Urg. I wouldn't mind so much if she didn't first knead it with her claws and leave lots of little snags all over it.
Can you see the guilt on her face?
I would take a pic of the snags but not enough lighting right now. WIll have to wait until tomorrow. I am off to bed. The knitting is coming with me. Far away from the wool loving kitty.

bitty boo
How cute it this! I need to make these at some point to add to my Haloween decor. Last night I put up everything I own. My house is completely ready for Halloween! Lights, spiders, spooky tree... you name it, I have it up. :)
I really want these little ghosts. They are soo cute.
Magknits rocks! Hehe

am I crazy?
I think I have gone a bit mental. I went to Michael's the other day and bought 9 balls of Patons Merino in green, aran, and burgandy to make a Mason Dixon Log Cabin Moderne afghan for my mother in law. For Christmas. I really hope I get this done in time. Remember, I am also working on a pair of socks and the clapotis. There are also a couple projects in hibernation, too. Either waiting to be felted or seamed. OMG. I am crazy.
I am on the third rectangle, which is not saying much, because it is only about the size of a hand towel.
(Btw, I have updated my playlist. Some more Muse and The Bravery!)

passing it on
Our librarian was fascinated with my knitting during registration this summer. She and I sat together, me knitting and her cross stitching some ornaments, keeping ourselves from getting bored when there was a lull in people to register. She shared with me how she loved to watch her mother knit when she was younger, but never learned herself. She brought this lovely poncho to school a couple days later that her mother had made for her a number of years earlier. It is one of the things she chersishes the most since her mother passed away.
Later that day, she asked if I would like a pair of her mothers needles that she had as well. I, of course, said yes if she wouldn't miss them. She told me that having the poncho was the most special for her and it would be better to pass on the needles to someone who would use them.
So, last week, in my mailbox at school I find these beautiful large wooden needles. They are so much more than I was expecting. I don't even know what size they are, but they are wonderful. Other teachers who saw me walking back to my classroom stared at them in wonder. I just told them I was off to take care of some vampires, ala Buffy. Hehe.
I can't wait to try these. I 'm going to need some really, really bulky yarn!
