Book Review- The Strength of a Sparrow by Tim Anders

The Strength of a Sparrow--Softcover The Strength of a Sparrow by Tim Anders

Based on a true story, The Strength of a Sparrow tells the bitter sweet love story of the author's parents, a Broadway actress and a Catholic Priest. Their life was a happy one despite the fact that they could not get married legally and they had to live under a false name and keep it all a secret. It wasn't until they are forced to separate that things go badly.

The fact that this is a true story is amazing to me. Just goes to show that you can never know who you will fall in love with. Such a sad story and yet a hopeful one as well. I don't know why I put off reading this one for so long. The cover definitely didn't help sell the book to me, which is a bit disappointing. A good book deserves a good cover.

The author, Tim Anders, writes children's books under the name Dr.Hope. He credits his mother as the inspiration for his books and the inspiring stories within them.

  1. The book sounds really interesting, but you are right, that cover is a real turn-off!

  2. I agree. I took one look at the cover and thought nah. It's too bad really. I'm sure a lot of really good stories get lost in their packages.
