She doesn't look sick, does she?

Well, turns out she is a bit. The ultrasound showed thickening of the wall of the left ventricle of her heart. She has Feline Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. You can find info on it here. It sounds scary, but the vet thinks she has a good number of years still ahead of her. She will need daily medication, poor thing. She is going to hate that.

  1. That's a great picture! I'm sorry to hear that she's sick :( Thanks for posting a link. It's good to know the vet thinks she will have a good number of years ahead of her!

  3. Poor baby! Our Maggie has to take 2 pills twice a day. You might look into a compounding pharmacy that can turn the pills into a gel that you can apply to the inside of the ears. We have one near us that we're going to use with her next prescription.

  4. Poor Joey. I'm glad she'll still be there with you for years to come though. I think the meds are worth it.

  5. Poor baby! I'm sure she'll be find with the meds though. I personally love my pill shooter, but Pen recently told me about pill pockets for dogs. Maybe they have something similar for cats? might be worth looking into. That way, pill time could be a good thing.

  8. Sorry to hear about the heart problem. I have been giving an allergy pill to my cat for about 3 1/2 years, and she takes it just fine - as long as I give her a treat right afterwards. She knows the routine, and will swallow the pill right down in order to have the other.
