Head on over to adventuresofmycreativity. Sharon is having a contest to celebrate her 2 year blogiversary. There is a great prize to be had. Just remember to mention me.

I'd give you a cookie if I could!

Btw, I am 8 posts away from my 100th post!
It's hard to believe.
Perhaps a contest will be in order?
(Edit: Make that 7!)

you can never have too much yarn

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I had a wonderful day. I left work early, made dough for the gingerbread cookies I have to take to work tomorrow for the kids' decorating party, I bought yarn, I went and had sushi for dinner. Very nice day.

Did I mention yarn? Yup, more Malabrigo yumminess. The hubby asked for a knitted hat for his brother for Christmas. So, of course I went straight to the yarn shop on the way to my hair appointment. I can't just go in and buy one skein, so I came out with three! I must say, Malabrigo has the best names for their yarns. Paris nights, sealing wax, dark forest!

Look at these! Beautiful, aren't they?

I already finished the hat for the BIL and have begun foliage in the reddish-orange chunky. I am thinking it will be for one of my SILs. The other SIL is getting gloves, so I better handknit for the other one as well.

Ooh, and the birthday fun continued into this morning. I got to work and found a bag on my desk. This is what I found inside...

Do my friends know me, or what?

christmas knitting

I finished the Malabrigo Unoriginal hat awhile ago but managed to give it away last night to a friend in a alcohol induced haze. I hadn't taken a picture of it yet! Oops. Anyway. I was going to keep it for myself but decided it didn't look that great on my head. It will be happy with its new home and owner. :) I just wish I had remembered to take an FO pic. Oh well. I had had a bit of wine with dinner...I was passing out knit hats to everyone!

This is my birthday weekend (actual birthday on Monday) so I haven't gotten much in the way of knitting done. Not good since I am way behind on that certain blanket. I sat down tonight and made myself work on my SIL's gloves. Only a finger and a thumb to go and that will be one more Christmas knit done. I have my worsted weight malabrigo for a foliage hat that needs to be knit up as well, and charades to finish. Yes, yes, and the blanket as well. It really is torture to work on that thing. Next year, I am starting the christmas knitting in April! I procrastinate too much.

cookies galore

This crazyness was not all my doing. A friend, who does this every year wanted to break in my remodeled kitchen, so, she brought over her stuff and we got to work. We started at 10am and finished everything, bagging included, at 4pm. We made three batches of each cookie. Snickerdoodles, chocolate crinkles and peanut butter blossoms. We also made Rice Krispie treats. Yum!

It was quite the production. We attempted fudge, but that went in the trash last night. It never set. Oh well.

Wish I could share with you all.

Happy Holidays!

unoriginal wip

I went to Gauge on Friday and perused the selection until I found this chunky yarn in dark forest. (great color way name) and some worsted (another great name that I can't remember right now). I so wanted to start knitting something, anything as soon as I got home but we were meeting a friend for happy hour. Margaritas. Can't say no to them on a friday.

Anyway, Saturday, after an entire day of cookie baking (photos to come later) I started this quite happily while sitting in front of the tv watching Knocked Up. A great end to the day.

the tree menace

I keep finding ornaments strewn about the house. Her favorite...a kangaroo in a jester costume (don't ask)... keeps finding its way into our bed.

There are also some broken branches towards the bottom and some chewed up ones. Supposedly, the kitty finds our tree pretty tasty. Go figure!

Can you spot the little tree menace?. She 's sneaking around the back, thinking I don't see her making her way to the kangaroo on the other side.

She's clever like that. :)

It is beginning to feel like Christmas now. If only the weather would cooperate and feel colder.

Head over to Knitty and get an early gift for the holidays! There are some great looking knits on there.

one finished gift

Pattern: Petal Bib
Source: One Skein, Leigh Radford
Yarn: Knit Picks Shine, Green Apple
Needles: US 6

The bib is finished!

It is adorable and so soft. I love it. It will be gifted to a teacher at his and his wife's baby shower this Tuesday. I wish I would have had more time to make another in the Crocus, but alas...

I made a little label to attach to the bib that has washing instructions on it. I thought it came out okay. I will safety pin to the bib before wrapping.

Now I need to finish my Christmas projects!
